Anytime now, when you click on the Buzz tab on your Gmail account Google will ask you to confirm or change your privacy settings. The announcement is yet to be posted by Google but both Mashable and BBC News have spilled the beans out that Google will be admitting that they ”didn’t get everything right.” Hence, it has been carrying some serious privacy tweaks since Google Buzz was launched. And while Google may have remedied the privacy threats of Google Buzz to some new users, those who have activated Google Buzz before Google carried out the privacy updates may not be affected. So, if you’re one of these users you need to confirm or change your privacy settings again. Google will gradually roll this out to Google Buzz users. The confirmation page will look like this: This is actually the old Google Buzz privacy settings. Nothing has been changed. Google just want to give users a chance to change or confirm their current privacy settings. Check out the SEO Tools guide at Search Engine Journal . Google to Ask Buzz Users to Reconfirm Privacy
Facebook will soon be changing the “Become a Fan” button that you see on Fan Pages to the more universal “Like” button. According to the site Clickz , Facebook has started sending confidential email to ad agencies informing them that the “Become a Fan” button which functions as a subscription/membership button to fan pages will be changed to “Like” button within the next few weeks. And what could be the reason for the upcoming change? Unfortunately, no specific details were divulged yet from the email sent to ad agencies. Facebook just wanted to give them advance notices as this might affect their advertising campaigns or Facebook strategy. This is particularly so since Facebook is recommending that ad agencies start using the phrase – “Find us on Facebook” or “Like us on Facebook” instead of the current “Became a fan.” In addition, the email also explained that the new “Like” button will be different from the current “Like” button that Facebook users click whenever they like particular updates of their friends. Facebook believes that by changing the “Become a Fan” button to “Like” will increase engagement between consumers and brands as it offers a simple, consistent way for Facebook users to connect with the things they are interested in. Facebook did some research and found out the users are more likely to “Like” something instead of becoming a fan. Check out the SEO Tools guide at Search Engine Journal . LinkSidebar is a useful FireFox addon that allows to view, search and test hyperlinks in a web page. Let’s give it a test drive, shall we? It took me a few minutes to figure out how to actually open the sidebar after the installation. It turned out I should have used the shortcut key [Ctrl+Shift+L] or the view menu (View-> Sidebar-> Links). LinkSidebar allows the user to: See all hyperlinks in the current web page, including any hyperlinks inside frames; See the total number of hyperlinks in the current webpage. Clicking on each link in the sidebar will open the page in a new tab. You can customize the columns to show the anchor text of each link, its URL and domain: You can search a handy SEARCH option to filter on-page links by a keyword: Two handy advanced search operators are supported: You can use quotes to find the exact phrase. You can use a minus (-) sign before any word to exclude links containing that word from the results. For example, to search for all the links to youtube videos except videos of cats, type “youtube -cats” in the search box. Further on, you can select links in the list (to select many links hold CTRL and click the links you want to select) to be able to: Highlight them on the page; Test them: To summarize, the addon allows to: Search the links in the current webpage (to find / filter links by a keyword in the URL path and anchor text); Select multiple links to open in tabs or copy locations for all selected links; Test links in the webpage, filtering out unwanted links with quick and easy searches; Highlight selected link on a page.
